Dr. Heather Knows, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") operates a training site and Direct Primary Care (DPC) model focused on independent primary care, medical advocacy, and clinical coordination for adult patients. We are committed to maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and protecting your Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and disclose your information, specifically including our mobile messaging text response services
Privacy Policy - 1. Medical Confidentiality & HIPAA Commitment
As an independent medical practice, all personal information, clinical history, communication logs, and phone numbers collected through this website are treated with the strict confidentiality required of formal medical documents. Unlike standard commercial websites, our digital ecosystem operates in alignment with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Your records and communication data are exclusively shared with appropriately vetted, approved, and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure components. This includes our encrypted Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system (eClinicalWorks / healow) and our secure, business-associate-agreement (BAA) bound communications architecture (Dialpad). We do not share your health or mobile data with external software entities that fall outside of these secure, compliant frameworks.
2. Mobile Messaging (SMS) Program & Opt-In
You may elect to opt-in to our SMS communications platform to facilitate appointment scheduling, clinical follow-up instructions, prescription notifications, and direct care updates. Consent to receive text responses from our clinical team is explicitly captured when you:
-
Voluntarily provide your mobile phone number on our website contact, booking, or intake forms and select the communication authorization checkbox.
-
Initiate a direct text response message to our designated practice telephone line.
-
Complete digital onboarding check-ins where you acknowledge and authorize mobile communication.
By opting in, you authorize Dr. Heather Knows, Inc. to deliver automated or manual operational and clinical text responses to your provided mobile number. Message and data rates may apply from your wireless provider. Message frequency varies depending on your clinical care itinerary
Carrier-Mandatory Privacy Clause (10DLC Compliance):
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties or vendors under any circumstances.
